GREENBRIER RIVER TRAIL W.Va. (WVDN) – Looking for a truly unforgettable outdoor experience? The Greenbrier Goat announces the opening of a new trail shelter at Mile Marker 22.5 on the Greenbrier River Trail (GRT) and the launch of its guided goat treks and day adventures. Bookings are now live at thegreenbriergoat.com.
This new venture combines the joy of hiking with the unique experience of friendly, trained pack goats. The Greenbrier Goat offers guided treks and day trips for individuals, families, and small groups, inviting guests to explore one of West Virginia’s most scenic rail-trails with a four-legged hiking companion.
“Our goats are more than just hiking buddies — they bring peace, joy, and a whole lot of fun. It’s non-stop goat therapy, y’all — and yes, they carry your gear, too,” says Aaron Coleman, founder and trail guide. “We’ve poured our hearts into training them and creating a shelter space that gives travelers a unique and restful stop on the GRT.”
Located at Mile Marker 22.5, the newly constructed trail shelter provides a covered rest stop, scenic views, and a water station. ADA-compliant facilities and overnight accommodations available by reservation.
“It’s been amazing meeting people on the trail — everyone has a story. We’re here with a cowboy breakfast, a friendly pack goat, and maybe even bacon sizzling over the fire,” Coleman adds.
What’s New at The Greenbrier Goat:
Guided Goat Treks – Hike with trained pack goats on the GRT. Great for all ages and abilities.
Day Adventures – Enjoy picnic hikes or a cowboy breakfast while a pack goat carries the load.
Trail Shelter at MM 22.5 – A rustic, functional stop for hikers and cyclists along the Greenbrier River Trail.
“The Greenbrier Goat is exactly the kind of innovative, experience-driven business that sets West Virginia apart,” says Heidi Prior, Certified Business Coach with the WV Small Business Development Center. “Aaron has taken a creative idea and turned it into a marketable, memorable offering that aligns perfectly with West Virginia’s growing outdoor economy.”
Whether you’re craving fresh air, friendly goats, or a new kind of outdoor adventure, now’s the time to hit the trail.
