Born on November 18, 1946, he was a son of the late Denzil and Alice Burns.

Delmas was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He will truly be missed. Delmas was also a man of tremendous faith and a devoted member of Dunlap Christian Church, where he served as Elder for many years. Delmas was a man of many talents and was always willing to lend a hand. He used those talents to assist family, friends, and neighbors with many projects. For 40+ years, Delmas worked at the Mountaineer Gas Company in Lewisburg, WV.

In addition to his parents, Delmas was also preceded in death by a baby brother; his older brother, Bernard Burns; and a younger brother, Louis Burns; an aunt, Ruth Burns; cousins, Wayne Burns and Denny Rane; and a number of other aunts, uncles, and cousins; as well as special friends, Calvin Fridley, Dale Bratton, Sr., and Ray Keen, Sr.

Delmas is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jackie Burns; three daughters, Tara Bates (Tony), Jessica Bowyer (James), and Ashley Burns (Justin Sizemore); 10 grandchildren, Taylor Bates, Cody Bates, Jacob Bates, Lily Bates, Nathan Bates, Justin Highlander, Shaleigh Burns, Rylee Bowyer, Hunter Bowyer, and Kaleigh Sizemore; and one great-grandchild, Cayden Highlander. Additionally, Delmas is survived by two special friends, Gale Bolton of Princeton, WV, and Edgar “Buddy” Vass of Alleghany County; a special cousin, Faye Woodrum of Caldwell, WV; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, March 28, 2025, at 1 p.m. in the White Sulphur Springs Chapel of Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, 175 Mountain Ave., White Sulphur Springs, WV 24986, with Rev. Bill Gilliand officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Burns Cemetery on Big Ridge in Alleghany County, VA. Family will receive friends one hour before the service.

The family would like to send a special thanks for the wonderful help and care given to Delmas by his Hospice nurse, Jim Bay, and ACG Hospice and special thanks to the crew at Mountaineer Gas in Lewisburg, WV.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Mr. Burns’ name to the Parkinson’s Foundation at 5757 Waterford District Drive, Suite 310, Miami, FL 33126 (online at www.parkinson.org), or God’s Pit Crew, 2499 North Main Street, Danville, VA 24540.
