SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WVDN) — The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR) announced today that students from 64 schools qualified to participate in this year’s Archery in the Schools State Tournament, which is scheduled to take place at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center on Saturday, March 29.
“Archery in the Schools is a fantastic program that teaches focus, discipline and sportsmanship,” said WVDNR Director Brett McMillion. “We’re proud of these students for their dedication and look forward to an exciting state tournament this year.”
Almost 1,400 students from 94 West Virginia schools participated in the state qualifier. Of those participants, the top eight teams, top 15 individual boys and top 15 individual girls from elementary, middle and high school are eligible to participate in the state tournament. Students from the following schools qualified to participate in this year’s tournament:

“We want to congratulate these schools and the students who worked hard to make it to the state tournament this year,” said Chris Scraggs, Archery in the Schools program coordinator for the WVDNR. “I’d also like to thank coaches, volunteers, conservation and educational organizations for helping make this fantastic program possible year after year.”
The state tournament will start at 10 a.m. when students shoot the first arrows of the day. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m., and registration will start at 9 a.m. The tournament will conclude with an awards ceremony at 3:30 p.m. Members of the public are encouraged to attend. Tickets are $10 for adults 18 and older and $5 for children 6-17. Children younger than 6 get in free. Tickets will be available at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center Box Office.
