BERKELEY W.Va. (WVDN) – A vehicle crash in Berkeley County resulted in two fatalities and one medical flight. The West Virginia State Police released the following information:

“On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at approximately 4:32 pm, Senior Trooper B. I. Mason came upon a three-vehicle crash at the 11.5-mile marker of I-81 in the southbound lanes within Berkeley County. Upon conducting the crash investigating, it was learned a green Dodge truck, driven by Steven Souders (64-year-old male from Warfordsburg, PA), crossed the median from the northbound lanes, entered the southbound lanes and struck a gray Dodge truck, driven by David A. Cain (59-year-old male from Kernersville, NC). Mr. Souders’ truck continued and struck a white Ford truck, driven by Ronnie Dick (33-year-old male from Inwood, WV), head-on, causing the Mr. Dick’s truck to flip. Steven Souders and Ronnie Dick were both fatally injured due to the accident. Mr. Cain sustained minimal injuries, however, his passenger and wife, Cathrine Cain (63-year-old female from Kernersville, NC) was flown to Inova Hospital in Fairfax, Virginia as a result of her injuries.”

This investigation is ongoing.
