Lieutenant Colonel Jeremiah O’Sullivan (Ret.)

Lieutenant Colonel Jeremiah O’Sullivan (Ret.) of Lewisburg, WV, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025.
He was born on November 7, 1949, in New York, NY, to Brendan and Mary O’Sullivan. He graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1971 and completed pilot training in Texas. He piloted F-4 fighter planes in combat missions during the Vietnam War.
Colonel O’Sullivan served in leadership roles, including Base Commander, Chief of War Plans with NATO during the First Iraq War, and at the Pentagon until his retirement in 1993. In 1994, he took on the role of manager at the Greenbrier Valley Airport, where he dedicated over two decades to its operation before retiring in 2015.
He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Ella, formerly of Roanoke, VA; his three children, Stephanie Fitzpatrick of Virginia, Jeremiah O’Sullivan of Nevada, and Melissa O’Sullivan of New York; and four adored grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church in Roanoke with Msgr. Patrick Golden officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Burial Park in Roanoke with Full Military Honors.
