MACFARLAN W.Va. (WVDN) – A traffic fatality occurred last week in MacFarlan. The West Virginia State Polie released the following information:
“On Wednesday, Feb. 12, at approximately 11 a.m., Buddy A. Deem, 81-year-old white male from Smithville, was driving westbound on WV Route 47 near 6762 Staunton Turnpike in MacFarlan, (Ritchie County). While negotiating a curve, the vehicle went off the roadway, over a steep embankment, and struck a tree. Buddy A. Deem, who was the single occupant, was not wearing a seatbelt. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim’s family has been notified. Sgt. Brewer with the West Virginia State Police responded to the scene and investigated this crash.
