According to Greenbrier County Homeland Security and Emergency Management, a wind advisory has been issued for parts of Southern West Virginia and Virginia.
The advisory goes into effect at 2 a.m. Friday morning and lasts until 2 p.m. the same day.
Areas affected include Eastern Greenbrier, Monroe, Summers and Mercer counties in West Virginia. The areas of Virginia included are Tazwell, Bland, Giles, Alleghany, Watauga, Ashe, Smyth, Pulaski, Wythe, Montgomery, Grayson, Bath, Carroll, Floyd, Craig, Botetourt and Roanoke.
Instructions given in the advisory state “use extra caution when driving during periods of high winds, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.”
