LINDSIDE, W.Va. — Haley Hunnicutt scored a game-high 16 points and Akayla Hughes chipped in 14, leading James Monroe to a 59-26 high school girls basketball win over Greenbrier West Wednesday night.
The Mavericks, ranked No. 6 in the latest West Virginia Class A high school poll, jumped to a 25-10 lead after one quarter and led 30-15 at the halftime break.
Allison Dunn led West with 17 points.
Raelyn Palmer added three points, while Natalie Agee, Meagan Poticher and Braelyn Sanford all had two apiece.
The young Cavaliers (0-6), who don’t have a senior on their roster, return to the floor on Friday night at home against Meadow Bridge.
