Carolyn DeHart Richmond

Carolyn DeHart Richmond, age 82, of Alderson, WV, formerly of Beckley, and Indian Mills, WV, passed away December 29th, 2024, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Born January 11, 1942, in Skelton WV, she was the daughter of the late Wanda Walker DeHart and Joseph C. DeHart.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Vern Richmond; a son, Travis Richmond; a daughter, Sherry Richmond Fleshman; sisters, Joann Sweetman and Susie York;  brothers, Charles DeHart, Tommy DeHart, and RogCarer DeHart; and very special friend, Liz Honaker.

Carolyn worked as a florist alongside her daughter, Carla; she owned a greenhouse and loved being around flowers. She didn’t know a stranger and was always the life of the party. She loved to dance; some of her children’s fondest memories were watching her roll up the living room rug and do the peppermint twist.

Survivors include her  children, Danny Richmond (DeeDee) of Williamston SC, Carla Richmond Merritt (Gill) of Alderson WV, and Scott Richmond (Desarae’) of Indian Mills WV; 11 grandchildren, Danica Richmond Boster (Reid) of SC, Jason Richmond (Kelsey) of Wisconsin, Trista Workman (Gary) of Lewisburg, WV, Amy Fleshman Catron (Brandon) of Alderson, WV, Randy Fleshman (Hannah) of White Sulphur Springs, WV, Carrie Pinnell, Michael Pinnell (Chyna) and Tyler Pinnell, all of Alderson, WV, Amber Richmond Merrill (Ethan), of Diamondhead, MS, Courtney Richmond Ward (Adam) of NC, and Jason Scott Richmond of Alderson, WV; 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Larry DeHart;  sisters, Nancy Humberston, Bunny Graves, and Lisa DeHart Pierson; and many family and friends. Carolyn will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Carolyn’s wish is to be cremated, without a service, and buried with her two children.
