BERKELEY COUNTY W.Va. (WVDN) – One life has been lost in Berkeley County following a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. The West Virginia State Police released the following statement:
“On Thursday, December 12, 2024, at approximately 9:55 pm, Trooper D.E. Smith responded to a vehicle crash, involving a pedestrian, in the area of the 55-mile marker of the WV Route 9 Bypass, near Martinsburg, Berkeley County.
“The initial crash investigation revealed an adult female was walking in the eastbound lane of WV Route 9. The driver of a 2021 Volvo XC60 was also traveling eastbound and did not see the victim, striking her with the front bumper. The victim was subsequently struck by a 2022 Subaru Crosstrek. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The crash investigation is being conducted by Trooper Smith and the next of kin has been notified.”
