INSTITUTE- In one of the more competitive volleyball matches you will ever see, Greenbrier West dug down a little deeper when it needed to the most in crunch time.
Set number four was back-and-forth, but in the end, the Greenbrier West Cavaliers came out on top 27-25 as the Cavs defeated East Hardy 3-1 to capture the school’s first girls’ championship of all time.
Preslee Treadway’s kill that hit in a perfect spot on the floor was the final nail in the Lady Cougars proverbial coffin.
The Cavs celebrated on the floor with all their fans and fellow students who made the trip and soaked in what is truly a special moment for not just Greenbrier West, but all of Greenbrier County as well.
Paige Dean and Treadway made the all-tournament team.
WVDN’s Michael Goddard will have a full recap of the state tournament with an inside look at what happened and will have interviews in the coming days on WVDN.com and in the print edition on Tuesday, December 10.
Congratulations to the Cavaliers players and coaches on the greatest volleyball season in school history.
