FAIRLEA- On Sunday afternoon, December 1, Greenbrier East volleyball star Alexis Stack surrounded herself with family, friends, and teammates and signed her national letter of intent that will continue her playing career at Concord University.
Stack was recently named first team all-state and had a stellar season for the Spartans whose season ended in the regionals against Herbert Hoover last month.
When it came to choosing a college, Stack felt her choice became an easy one as the process moved forward.
“I have always been close to concord growing up. I played travel volleyball there for the longest time and I just always felt a connection to concord,” Stack explained.
Something that has prepared stack for her to take the next step at the next level is none other than her Spartan head coach Matt Sauvage.
“Matt Sauvage has taught me so much about volleyball and how to become a better person also. Because of him, I grew closer to God and grew closer to the people around me. He not only treated me like one of his players, he treated me like I was his daughter too,” Stack said.
Once on campus, the all-stater knows exactly what she wants to accomplish as soon as she gets to Athens.
“My goals are to settle down in my classes and stay on task with them too especially while playing volleyball, and to make many new friends,” Stack concluded.
