BEAVER, W.Va. (WVDN) – New River Community and Technical College is excited to announce the schedule for the 7th Annual New River CTC Invitational, taking place January 6-11, 2025. This much-anticipated event will bring together talented co-ed basketball teams from local high schools and, for the first time, universities for a week of skill, sportsmanship, and community pride.

The tournament, held at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center, has become a cherished tradition and serves as the largest annual fundraising event for the college. The Invitational not only highlights the athletic talent in the region but also provides a platform for students and their families to learn more about the educational and workforce development opportunities available at New River CTC.

Michael Green, Chief of Staff and Vice President of External Affairs at New River CTC, expressed enthusiasm about the event, stating, “We’re thrilled to host the Invitational once again, bringing together the community to celebrate local talent. It’s an opportunity for us to connect with students and their families while showcasing the many ways New River CTC supports our region’s educational and career goals.”

This year’s Invitational will feature an exciting lineup of high school teams competing throughout the week. Fans can look forward to seeing returning All-State players, including Jack Williams from Shady Spring High School, Cadee Blackburn from Wyoming East High School, and Coby Dillon from Woodrow Wilson High School.

A special highlight of the tournament this year will be participation from the WVU Tech Golden Bears in a feature game against the Indiana University East Red Wolves on Friday at 12:30 p.m.

The 2025 event will also feature the Raleigh County Special Olympics basketball team on Wednesday January 8, 2025.

Mark your calendars for January 6-11, 2025, and don’t miss the opportunity to witness some incredible basketball while learning more about the educational opportunities offered by New River CTC. The full schedule and live score updates will be available on the Tourney Machine app here.
