FRANKFORD W.Va. (WVDN) – The ladies of the Henning Church of God held their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 12, in the church fellowship hall. Carole Spencer presided and Barb Seldomridge led in prayer. The ladies provided the following report:
“Donna Scott led the devotion, “Get your purpose on, Girlfriend,” by Racelle Burchett. We are all created for a special purpose. We are intended to love our life and have passion sparked in our souls. We were carefully and skillfully made by God. (Psalms 139:13-16) God designed you and planned for your existence. Discover and live it. Have you ever cleaned out a cramped closet and wrinkled wardrobe? You have to have a certain mindset when cleaning it out, such as getting rid of anything you have not worn for two years and reorganizing and decluttering. You pull something out of your closet and even if it has a spot on it and is a little snug, you talk yourself into keeping it. Women need to purge the closet of their hearts. They hang onto guilt too long. They walk around with a fake smile and close the door of their heart. The more we store, the longer we hang on to it in our hearts. The heart is a sacred place and it needs to be neat and in order. We don’t want people to visit our closet. (I Samuel 16:7) Don’t judge by appearance. The Lord looks at our hearts and wants to help us to get rid of things that don’t belong in our hearts. Embrace his grace, mercy, and freedom taking place in our hearts.
“Barb Seldomridge gave the missionary education report by sharing Thanksgiving on the mission field. Thanksgiving on the mission field can look different from the traditional Thanksgiving. Laura Arnott (American Indian Field) prepares their favorite foods with family and other missionaries. They also have an annual 5K race. Cyndil Waggoner (Albania Field) celebrates American traditions in Albanian restaurants. Angela Many (Kenya Field) celebrates the first Saturday after Thanksgiving. They have a turkey trot 5K and fun run, football and family along with all the food they have stored up to make their favorite recipes. We all need to pray for the missionaries and their children in the field.
“Pauline Perkins read last month’s minutes and Jamie Harvey gave the treasurer’s report.
“The group will be serving the Maxwelton Ruritans on Thursday, November 21. Joan Vance gave a report on the newly purchased building that has been set up on church property. The group Eventide will be singing at the church on Sunday morning, December 1 and that evening the church will be decorating with the hanging of the greens. The next meeting will be on December 3 with a pot luck dinner. Members are asked to bring Christ’s birthday offering, food pantry items and blessing cup money. The church will present its Christmas play, ‘A Christmas Reunion,’ on Friday evening, Dec. 20 at the church. The choir of the church will present the Christmas cantata, ‘The First Noel,’ on Sunday morning, Dec. 22.”
Marty Burns dismissed in prayer.
