LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – As the holiday season approaches, downtown Lewisburg transforms into a winter wonderland, ready to welcome both locals and visitors for a festive kickoff. The air is filled with excitement and a hint of cinnamon, inviting everyone to partake in the celebrations.
The festivities begin with a grand tree lighting ceremony on Nov. 22 at 6 p.m. in the central green space, where a towering tree adorned with twinkling lights and colorful ornaments becomes the heart of the celebrations. Families gather around, sipping hot cocoa and enjoying the sound of carolers singing timeless holiday classics.
Local retailers are showcasing gifts and seasonal treats. The aroma of freshly baked goodies wafts through the streets, enticing passersby to indulge in the holiday spirit.
Children can meet Santa Claus where they can share their wishes and take memorable photos. A festive parade winds through downtown on Dec. 5 at 7 p.m., featuring floats adorned with lights and lively performances that capture the joy of the season.
As night falls, the streets come alive with enchanting light displays, and horse-drawn carriages roll through the streets. Santa and holiday characters roam the streets spreading cheer. Local bands play upbeat tunes that encourage spontaneous dancing and merriment.
Throughout December, various events take place; Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Girls’ Day Out on Dec. 14. The downtown area becomes a vibrant hub of joy, where the spirit of the holidays is celebrated in every corner, creating lasting memories for all who join in the festivities.
