RAINELLE W.Va. (WVDN) – All the way from Texas, Danny and Christi Sims fell in love with the small town of Rainelle and its residents. In fact, the connection was so strong that they decided to invest in a building and start a business. Coal Creek Salon opened in October as a place where both men and women can come for haircuts and styling, and a boutique featuring a line of clothing and home products.

Owner Christi Sims brings 34 years of experience as a hairstylist while her husband Danny has 35 years of experience in retail. Together, they have created a storefront that is both quaint and colorful. The official grand opening, set for Nov. 15 and 16, will feature giveaways, drawings, food and a sale. “It’s going to be a big deal,” says Danny Sims.

The salon offers everything from haircuts, perms and coloring to extensions, smoothing treatments and toppers for women with thinning hair. “I can do basically anything with hair, and I do it well,” says Christi Sims. When asked what customers may be surprised to know about her business, Sims proudly said “My grandpa did hair, my dad, his twin brother and now I do it. I’ve been a hair stylist since I was 17,” she adds. “I absolutely love it and have a passion for it.”

In addition to the salon, the boutique aspect is designed to offer customers a stylish shopping experience. Regular and plus-sized clothing, blankets, candles, shoes, handcrafted soaps and purses are among the products offered on site. “We have a wide variety of everything,” Christi Sims says. “We also have a large selection of hair care products.”

Designed with the ‘Expect something different’ slogan, it’s easy to see that this new business aims to deliver. “We are also looking to have a manicurist and another stylist or two in the near future,” Sims admits.

Coal Creek Salon is on 439 Main Street in Rainelle, West Virginia.  The hours of operation are Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For more information, call 681-208-4563. You can find them on social media by searching for Coal Creek Salon Boutique on Facebook and/or Instagram.
