FAYETTEVILLE W.Va. (WVDN) – A three-day trial in the murder of Michelle Smith concluded on Friday, Nov. 1. The West Virginia State Police released the following statement:

“On Thursday, Oct. 31, 2024, TFC J. D. Morton wrapped up a three-day trial on 29-year-old Andres Torres of Goshen, Indiana for the brutal kidnapping, robbery and killing of 42-year-old Michelle Smith of Fayetteville, West Virginia.

“The crimes occurred on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023. Michelle Smith was beaten and shot. Michelle Smith survived until her death on March 31, 2023.  Mr. Torres was found guilty on all counts and was sentenced to life without mercy.”
