Brenda Pomeroy Nunley
Brenda Pomeroy Nunley, formerly of Lewisburg, WV, passed away at home in Charlotte, NC, on the morning of October 15, 2024, with her husband of 59 years by her side. She was born November 26, 1947, the daughter of the late John E. Pomeroy, Sr. and Sue Smith Pomeroy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Easton Pomeroy.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Daniel Nunley; daughter, Lara Nunley Edwards (Josh), of Lewisburg, WV; and son, Joshua Nunley, of Charlotte, NC. Brenda, fondly known as “Ninna”, also leaves behind five grandchildren: Noah, Luke, and Jackson Edwards, as well as Amelie and Griffin Nunley. She is additionally survived by four siblings: Carrie Walker (Garfield), of Beech Island, SC; John Pomeroy, Jr. (Setsuko), of Fayetteville, NC; Virginia Robinson (Bill), of Detroit, MI; and Sam Pomeroy, of Quinwood, WV. She had nine nieces, five nephews, and many beloved extended family members and friends.
Brenda graduated from Crichton High School in 1965 and was married in September of that same year. The newlyweds moved to Morgantown, where she worked to help her husband through undergraduate school. Following his graduation, they moved to Shepherdstown, WV, for four years, before returning to Morgantown, where she worked to help her husband through dental school.
In 1975, they returned to their beloved Greenbrier County. She earned an associate’s degree in accounting from Greenbrier Community College and later obtained a real estate license. Once she had children, she devoted herself to being a mother but continued to manage the accounting and bookkeeping for the dental practice for 40 years.
She loved being a wife, a mother, and a “Ninna,” and considered herself blessed to stay at home with her children and grandchildren. She treasured the time she was able to spend loving her family and making beautiful memories.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Wellspring of Greenbrier, Inc., American Cancer Society, Gwen’s Meals (Shepherd’s Center), or a charity of your choice.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Lewisburg United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 9th, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow downstairs in Wesley Hall.
