RUPERT W.Va. (WVDN) – Members of the Rupert Volunteer Fire Department are collecting new toys for the children of Maggie Valley, North Carolina, which was devastated in the wake of Hurricane Helene. Many amazing West Virginia folks have put countless hours into rescue missions and donation drives for our North Carolina neighbors. It’s a true testament to the surviving soul of an Appalachian American. People see a need and fill the need. Among the best of Appalachians are volunteer firefighters. Here’s a chance to support them monumentally.
Toy donations can be dropped off at the fire department in Rupert on Mondays at 6 p.m., located at 217 Church St., Rupert. Additionally, The Summit Community Bank, located at 243 Greenbrier St., Rupert, is accepting donations for RVFD anytime during business hours, and The BBQ Pit, located at 120 Church St., Rupert anytime between 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday.
Also, donations can be dropped off in Ronceverte at This is Us Salon, located at 238 Red Oaks Shopping Center, Ronceverte.
More drop-off locations will be added. Please contact Chief Rocky Bailey at 304-667-0401. You may also visit their Facebook page for info on how to support your local VFD.
They are also having a Christmas Bash, so mark your calendars! The Rupert Volunteer Fire Department’s annual Christmas Bash will take place on Dec. 14, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Come see Santa, the Grinch and all the elves.
