Earl Harvey Hanson, 98, of Ballard, WV, formerly of Cornstalk, WV, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2020, at his home.
Born on January 11, 1922, in Williamsburg, WV, he was the son of Tim and Dora Suttle Hanson.
He was a farmer and a member of the James Chapel United Methodist Church. Earl was a U.S. Navy WWII veteran and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Dancy Hanson; two sisters, Ruth McClung and Drema Worrell; two brothers, Carl Hanson and Dale Hanson; and a great-granddaughter, Shana Renee Cumbee.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Mullins (Doug) of Bozoo, WV, and Hazel Byrd (Rodney) of Buchanan, VA; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 23, 2020, at the Morgan Funeral Home Chapel, 252 Montvue Drive, Lewisburg, WV 24901, with Pastor Roger Williams officiating.
Burial with military rites will follow at the Rosewood Cemetery in Lewisburg, WV.
Visitation will be from noon until time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations of sympathy be made to the HospiceCare, 1265 Maplewood Ave., Lewisburg, WV 24901.
