MAXWELTON W.Va. (WVDN) – Seneca Health Services is one of six Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHC) in West Virginia. The WV Bureau for Behavioral Health and Bureau for Medical Services have established CCBHCs to provide timely access to quality treatment for behavioral health needs. Seneca joins FMRS Health Systems, Prestera Health Services, Southern Highlands CMHC, Valley Healthcare, and Westbrook Health Services as the first CCBHCs in the state.
The requirements to be a CCBHC are extensive to meet the objective of increased access and quality care. Seneca will be expanding evening and weekend hours, offering additional programs for individuals with serious mental health issues- such as assistance in securing employment, housing, and intensive therapy. We will coordinate care with physical health care providers, education, and legal systems, and be available 24/7 for crisis services. Seneca has a mobile crisis team that can respond to individuals in crisis who want to be seen outside of the traditional office setting.
Other states who have CCBHCs report an average increase of 33% in individuals served, most notably children, youth, uninsured individuals, and those without a prior relationship with a provider. CCBHCs also have reported expanded access to treatment for substance use disorder care.
Seneca employs 245 local individuals at present and will soon be hiring over one hundred additional staff to meet the needs of individuals and the community. Seneca provides responsible behavioral health care, accessible to all individuals in our community, with progressive service delivery.
We are proud to have West Virginians caring for fellow West Virginians.
