LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – Glenn Elliott, West Virginia Democratic nominee for United States Senate, has been generating a lot of interest with his “The Place Where We Belong” tour, and his 50th stop in the state at Hollowell Park in Lewisburg on Aug. 25 was no exception.
The event, which included a cookout hosted by the Greenbrier County Democratic Executive Committee, was attended by a crowd of approximately 140 bi-partisan attendees. In the tradition of a town hall style event, Elliott engaged with the crowd on issues ranging from health care, reproductive rights, expansion and/or term limits in the U.S. Supreme Court, homelessness, social support services, jobs, retaining young talent in our state, energy and infrastructure. Elliott, a two-term mayor of Wheeling, West Virginia, and former aide to Sen. Robert Byrd has proven experience in leading and generating solutions across the aisle on these issues at the local, state and national level. He is widely regarded for his leadership in not only revitalizing Wheeling but also is largely credited for the unprecedented era of public and private investments that have led Wheeling to become one of the state’s fastest-growing economies.
A seventh-generation West Virginian with middle-class roots, Glenn Elliott’s professional and personal experiences, coupled with his desire to improve West Virginia for the next generation, have led him to believe that working for the people of West Virginia should be his focus.
