Delphia Virginia Bennett Lemons, 86, of Asbury, WV, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2019, at the Greenbrier Health Care Center in Fairlea, WV, following a long illness.
Born on March 25, 1933, in Alderson, WV, she was the daughter of James Luther Bennett and Jewel Ballengee Bennett.
Mrs. Lemons was a retired employee of Appalachian Electronic Instruments, where she worked as an electronics assembler. She was a member of the West Point Baptist Church in Asbury. She enjoyed cooking, gardening (especially flowers), listening to bluegrass and southern gospel music, and spending time with her grandsons. Mrs. Lemons had resided at Seasons Place Assisted Living from January 2015 until September 2019.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Calvin Cecil Lemons, in 2014; brothers, Cecil Bennett and Harold Lee Bennett; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harry and Mary Lemons.
She is survived by a son, Edward Lee Lemons (Karen) of Asbury; a daughter, Sharon Lemons Moody (Bobby) of Lewisburg, WV; and four grandchildren, Lloyd C. “Bo” Franks (Cyndi) of Alderson, James Matthew “Matt” Lemons of Asbury, Dr. Mark Edward Lemons of Taylorsville, MS, and Derrick Cecil Davis of Lewisburg. She is also survived by two sisters, Doris O’Neil of Zephyrhills, FL, and Carol Carter of Ronceverte, WV; a brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Wanda Bennett of Louisa, VA; a sister-in-law, Betty Bennett of Alderson; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019, at 3 p.m. at the Morgan Funeral Home Chapel, 252 Montvue Drive, Lewisburg, WV 24901, with the Rev. Ron Miller and Pastor Emory Hanna officiating. Burial will follow at the Wallace Memorial Cemetery in Clintonville, WV.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2019, at the funeral home.
