Exciting New TV Show to Film at the Sweet Springs Resort Park

SWEET SPRINGS W.Va. (WVDN) – The charming town of Sweet Springs, West Virginia, is set to become the backdrop for an exhilarating new television mini-series, bringing both excitement, exposure and economic growth to the region.

In a highly anticipated move, production will resume filming in November on “P27: The Series,” a drama/mystery/thriller that combines gripping storytelling with the picturesque beauty of West Virginia’s landscapes. The show promises to captivate audiences with its blend of intriguing characters, suspenseful plotlines and the true events surrounding its story.

While the show’s secondary location films North Carolina, The decision to film in Sweet Springs highlights the town’s picturesque environment, which perfectly complements the show’s narrative. Known for its historical significance and serene natural beauty, Sweet Springs will serve as the ideal setting for the series, adding authenticity and charm to the on-screen story.

“We are thrilled to bring ‘P27: The Series’ to life in this beautiful and historical town,” said Kent Allen, Executive Producer/Creator of the show. “Our show is an advocate-driven story Inspired by True Events about the Abuse surrounding a Psychiatric Hospital in the early-mid 2000s. 

Our team wants to bring about social changes to a broken system in specific areas of healthcare including hospitals and nursing homes. Although Sweet Springs Resort Park is our main location, the story takes place in a small fictional town of Lundin County, West Virginia at the Lundin Psychiatric Hospital. The landscape will play an integral part to our storyline, and we’re excited to showcase this hidden gem to a national audience.”

The production will not only spotlight Sweet Springs Resort Park but is also expected to boost the local economy.  The influx of cast and crew will generate opportunities for local businesses, from hotels and restaurants to shops and service providers. The project is anticipated to create jobs and foster community engagement, providing a significant economic impact for the area.

Local officials are enthusiastic about the project, welcoming the exposure it brings. “We are honored that ‘P27: The Series has chosen our town as its filming location,” said Sweet Springs Resort Park, Executive Director of Operations Arietta A. Dupre. “This is a fantastic opportunity to share the beauty and spirit of Sweet Springs with a wider audience, and we are committed to supporting the production team throughout their stay.”

This 3-Part Miniseries will be pitched to mainstream and indie streaming platforms in 2025. The actual events did not happen at Sweet Springs.
