Three WV Men Arrested in Alleghany County on Drug Related Charges

ALLEGHANY COUNTY Va. (WVDN) – Three men from West Virginia were recently arrested in Alleghany County after the the Alleghany Highlands Drug Task Force allegedly witnessed a “hand-to-hand” drug transaction. Sheriff Kyle Moore released the following statement:

“On July 13, the Alleghany Highlands Drug Task Force was conducting surveillance when a hand-to-hand drug transaction was observed. With the assistance of the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office, a traffic stop was conducted. Subsequently, 1 ounce of suspected fentanyl valued at approximately 3,000 dollars, and 1 gram of Xanax, a handgun, $4804.00 in US Currency and a 2008 Dodge pickup was seized.”

According to the statement, the arrested individuals were:

Triston Daniel Crookshanks, 27, of Gap Mills, West Virginia. His charges are Distribution of Schedule 1 or 2 drugs, Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and Possession of a firearm while possessing Schedule 1 or 2 drugs.

Ragan Matthew Bostic, 28, of Ronceverte, West Virginia. His charges are Distribution of a Schedule 1 or 2 drug and possession of a firearm while possessing a Schedule 1 or 2 drug.

Richard Andrew Harris, 21, of White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. His charges are Distribution of a Schedule 1 or 2 drug and Possession of a Schedule 4 drug without a prescription.

The Alleghany Highlands Drug Task Force is comprised of officers from the Craig, Bath and Alleghany County Sheriff’s offices, the City of Covington and the Virginia State Police.

The statement continued by saying, “We encourage anyone with a drug addiction or if you know anyone that needs help with a drug problem to contact the Community Service Board at 540-965-2100.”
