OAK HILL, WV (WVDN) – Something is always happening at ACE Adventure Resort in the New River Gorge. This July locals and travelers to West Virginia can beat the summer heat at ACE’s spring-fed mountain lake water park and enjoy some special events.

On Saturday, July 6th adventurers will make a big splash in the 13th Annual Big Air Blob Competition. Teams of two compete for the most outrageous blob of the day. “Blobbing” is an outdoor water activity using a large inflatable air bag, called an air or a water blob. One person, the “flyer,” sits at the front end of the blob while the teammate, the “blobber,” jumps from a platform onto the opposite end, catapulting the flyer into the air and then the lake. Judges will score the blob based on form, height, and creativity. The competition is free with a water park pass and participants can sign up on the water park dock at 4 p.m. with the blobbing starting at 5 p.m. There will be cash prizes for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. To purchase passes and see event details, visit: https://aceraft.com/event/big-air/.

Party on the beach and dance in the water Saturday night July 20th at the DJ Dance Party. The night swim will at 8 p.m. and continue until midnight. DJ Iron Ring will be spinning music from the patio stage with a full light show across the lake and water park. DJ Iron Ring calls the New River Gorge area home. He gets the crowd dancing with energetic electronic dance music, punctuated with some big bass drops and some of today’s dance hits mixed in to keep the party rocking. ACE’s DJ Dance Parties are only for guests ages 16 and up, and 16 and 17 year olds must be accompanied by an adult. Details, rules, and ticket purchasing can be found at: https://aceraft.com/event/waterpark-party-ironring/.

Movie lovers can get a thrill July 27 with ACE’s Jaws on the Lake. Watch the classic movie, Jaws, on a 25-foot screen with a full sound system while floating on the lake in an inner tube, lounging on the beach, or resting on one of the lake toys. The water park will be open for an after-hour swim between 8-9 p.m. before the movie starts. Food and beverages will be available from The Lost Paddle Bar & Grill adjacent to the beach. Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased at the gate or on ACE’s website at: https://aceraft.com/event/jaws-on-the-lake23/.

Every Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. is Trivia Night at The Lost Paddle Bar and Grill adjacent to the waterpark. It’s free to play and trivia topics vary from week to week. The winning team will receive an awesome prize and be added to the seasonal drawing for a $500 gift certificate to ACE Adventure Gear. The dinner and bar menus are available in addition to a burrito buffet.
