RENICK, W.Va. (WVDN) — A 62-year-old man has died following a two-vehicle accident on U.S. Route 219 near Renick, West Virginia, authorities said.
John Michael Kinnison of Marlinton, West Virginia, was traveling southbound on U.S. Route 219 on Saturday morning when his vehicle crossed into the northbound lane and collided with another vehicle, according to a statement from Greenbrier County Sheriff Sloan.
The impact caused Kinnison to be ejected from his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash. Kinnison was the sole occupant of his vehicle, and the individuals in the northbound vehicle escaped without serious injuries, the statement said.
The Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department responded to the incident, with Lieutenant D. W. Hedrick leading the investigation. The department’s Crime Scene/Accident Reconstruction Team processed the scene to determine the cause of the collision.
Assistance was provided at the scene by the Frankford Volunteer Fire Department and White Sulphur Springs EMS.
Authorities have not disclosed any further details about the accident.
