WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS W.Va. (WVDN) – On Sunday, May 19, Emmanuel UMC extended a warm welcome to the 2024 scholarship recipients and their families. Members said, “Our congregation always looks forward to this celebration of the graduating seniors who have been chosen by the Scholarship Committee to receive the $1000 awards. Our late members, Steve King and Robert Davis, who championed the continuation of this program would be very proud to see how it has grown! We are thankful for their support and diligence in bringing this worthy endeavor back into existence.”
This year, the church awarded Mikayla Wyatt, Thomas Dalporta, Jerra Shelton, Kateland Harper and Amelia Hanna. They were all in attendance with their families to receive awards. Following worship everyone enjoyed the reception in their honor. It was themed to coordinate with Pentecost.
Members said, “Many thanks to the Scholarship Committee for their work, Jake Harper for the presentations, and Mary Collins for the organization of the reception. We will intentionally pray for these young people as they embark on their education journey this year and hope to hear back as to how it goes!”
