WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS W.Va. (WVDN) – In a new development for the local hospitality industry, SHWV Acquisitions, LLC (“SHWV”) is thrilled to announce its acquisition of The Schoolhouse Hotel in White Sulphur Springs, SHWV plans to materially increase the size of the hotel while maintaining and enhancing what has been historically exceptional customer services and offerings. This should create additional jobs and economic activity for those in and around White Sulphur Springs. SHWV is heavily focused on investing in situations where the goal is to provide accommodations for those who do not currently experience what the broader society experiences in their daily life, such as current investments in American Sign Language providers. As The Schoolhouse Hotel is considered the only fully accessible hotel in the country, both those who need special accommodations and those who don’t will be able to experience the offerings of the hotel, albeit in different ways, but with the same result. The assistive technologies already woven into the fabric of the hotel will be expanded and continue to surpass ADA hotel standards.

SHWV ownership is comprised of a team with direct and broad industry knowledge and a deep understanding of guest preferences in both hotel and food and beverage settings. “Our team is committed to upholding the legacy of this very special hotel while infusing it with fresh ideas to meet the evolving needs of every walk of life traveler,” says a spokesperson for SHWV. “Our preliminary plans to build more hotel rooms in downtown White Sulphur Springs is just the beginning of our effort to make White Sulphur Springs into a destination that is exciting, as well as accessible.”

Charles Hammerman, one of the founders of The Disability Opportunity Fund (“DOF”), who were the developers of the hotel, says guests can expect a seamless transition as the new owners introduce their signature blend of personalized service, attention to detail, unparalleled hospitality and the best-in-class of accommodations for those who need assistance.

“Over the 5 years of investing an unprecedented $20 million into the resurgence of White Sulphur Springs from the devastating Flood of 2016, this community has become a second home to the DOF Family. As we celebrate the Second Anniversary of the Official Opening of The Schoolhouse Hotel, it is time to take this beautiful gem and entrust it to a team that not only has experience in the worlds of hospitality and disabilities but is truly committed to continuing DOF’s work within the WSS and broader Greenbrier Valley communities,” says Hammerman.

As DOF learned and preserved the traditions in the WSS Community, it has started a new one in the WSS STRIDE Gala. The second Annual Gala will be celebrated on June 13th at The Schoolhouse Hotel, with all proceeds benefitting programs that support people with disabilities in Greenbrier County. As SHWV takes the reins, The Schoolhouse Hotel promises exciting opportunities for growth and innovation in the hospitality landscape in White Sulphur Springs.
