ALDERSON W.Va. (WVDN) – Alderson Main Street’s “Open Mic at the Depot” kicked off its third season on Saturday, May 4, with an eclectic mix of artists and songs.
Event organizer Marcia Sutherland started the evening with a remembrance of Ramona “Rikki” Bell, a local retired nurse, musician and songwriter who passed away on January 1, 2024. Rikki had performed at Open Mic Night before and performed with Sutherland “front porch style” at the Graham House.
The rest of the evening saw nine musicians, some faithful participants and a couple of new ones, playing a variety of music, from the more traditional Appalachian style to electric guitar blues and Indie pop. Sutherland said, “It’s great to see old friends and new after the winter break.”
Open Mic at the Depot is held the first Saturday of the month, May through October.
