Hazel McChesney Miller

Hazel McChesney Miller, 87, of Ronceverte, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, April 25, 2024, from Peyton Hospice House.

Born November 15, 1936, in Marlinton, WV, she was a daughter of the late Forest and Sallie Walker McChesney.

Hazel was a retired sales clerk, having worked for the Ben Franklin Store, LANDCO, and K-Mart. She was a member of the Democrat Women of Greenbrier County, graduated from Marlinton High School, and will be greatly missed by her many friends and family.

She was a very active member of her church, Main Street United Methodist Church in Ronceverte. She played an important role with the construction of the Main Street United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, which her late husband, Lewis H. Miller, Sr., designed.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lewis H. Miller, Sr. in 2006; and two sisters, Virginia Jefferson and Ruth Wilson.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Pamela Miller-Mitchell and husband, Samuel, of Norfolk, VA; and her son, Lewis H. Miller, Jr. and wife, Gracie, of Virginia Beach, VA; a brother-in-law, Bennie J. Miller and wife, Rose, of Olney, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Home going services will be 2 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2024, at Main Street United Methodist Church in Ronceverte, with Pastor Greg Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Greenbrier Memorial Gardens in Lewisburg.

A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Peyton Hospice House for their care of Hazel during her stay.

The family would also like to thank her nephew, Tony Pondexter, Keith Pondexter, Mary McCloud, Tammy Hoover, Melissa Miller, and her caregiver, Chrissy McMann, for their many acts of kindness shown to Hazel over the last year.
