WINFIELD- The Greenbrier East boys’ and girls’ track teams competed in the highly competitive Dick Dunlap Winfield Classic. Seventeen teams in total completed.

The girls were led by Neena McClintic who won two races.  In the 1600-meters, she broke her own school record by over seven seconds and ran the girls West Virginia AAA no. 2 fastest time with a time of 5:10.65. She also won the 800-meters with WV AAA’s no. 4 ranking with a time of 2:20.08.  She also broke her 800-meter school record time for the third time this year.

Annie Whited won the 400-meters with the WV AAA no. 4 ranking with a time of 60.18. Noelle McClintic placed fourth with a new season best time. Megan Canterbury broke the top 10 as well with an eighth-place finish.

Kiana McClung keeps getting stronger and finished third in the 100-meter dash.

Mia Rowan picked tied for second place in the high jump and ran a season best time in the 100 Hurdles with an impressive fifth place finish.

Megan Canterbury had another solid run in the 300 Hurdles finishing fifth also.

McClung, Noelle McClintic, and Whited had strong runs in the 200-meter dash and qualified for finals. It was the coaches’ decision to hold out of the final and concentrate on the 4×400 relay which ran right after the 200-meter. The gamble paid off and the 4×400 relay team of Neena McClintic, McClung, Noelle McClintic, and Whited dropped nearly five seconds off their season best time and at the moment are ranked no. 1 in WV Class AAA girls with a time of 4:12.65

The 4×200 relay team of Noelle McClintic, Canterbury, Whited, and McClung ran a season best 1:50.52 and now possess a WV Class AAA Girls no. 6 ranking.

The Shuttle Hurdle Relay team of Canterbury, Penelope Campbell, EmmaJo Palmer and Mia Rowan placed second.

The 4×800 relay team of Luella Mansheim, Maddie Lilly, Kate Adkins, Carter Wolfe finished in fourth place.

The boys’ teams are competing very well for such a young team also. The 4×100, 4×200 and 4×400 relay teams of Isaiah Bartenslager, Donavin Penn, Robby White and Henry Martinez all ran season best times and finished seventh, sixth, and sixth, respectively.

The shuttle hurdle relay team of Dylan DePriest, Keshawn Bland, Aiden Dowdy and Andrew Cleghon finished in fifth place.

The Spartan girls finished third and the boys’ finished 10th out of 17 teams.
