Robert Lee Cook, 81, of Covington, VA, passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at his residence.
Robert was born in Sweet Chalybeate, VA, on October 27, 1936, to Floyd Bruce Cook Sr. and Elizabeth Plain Stone Cook.
Robert graduated Dunlap High School, Class of 1954. He served his country enlisting in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He was a lifelong farmer, as well as a papermaker for Westvaco for 43 years when he retired in 1999.
Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Jim Cook.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Charlotte Kersey Cook of Covington; daughter, Kelly Cook of Sweet Chalybeate; sons, Jeffery Cook (Margaret) of Sweet Chalybeate, John Cook (Mary) of Gap Mills, WV, and Kevin Cook of Charleston, WV; sister, Judy Ann Howell of Iron Gate, VA; sister-in-law, Peggy Cook of Manassas, VA; brother, Pete Cook (Linda) of Sweet Chalybeate; special cousin, Jack Harmon of Sweet Chalybeate; grandchildren, Chelsea Cook of Sweet Chalybeate, and Robert Cook of Sweet Chalybeate.
Funeral services were held Sunday, October 21, 2018, at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in White Sulphur Springs, WV, with Pastor Bill Gilliland officiating. Burial followed at Sweet Chalybeate Community Cemetery in Virginia.
A visitation was held from 2 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
