Kenneth Lacy Moody
Kenneth Lacy Moody, 84, a resident of Parsons, passed from this life Friday, March 1, 2024, at Nella’s at Autumn Lake Healthcare in Elkins and under the care of Mountain Hospice.
Kenneth was born Tuesday, July 4, 1939, on Muddy Creek Mountain in Greenbrier County, a son of the late George Estell Moody, Sr. and Margie Hanna Moody. On May 31, 1959, in Parsons, he married the former Shirley Grace Hardy for the first time, and they were married for twenty-one years. After a thirty-year span apart, he remarried Shirley on June 26, 2010, in Parsons.
Left to cherish Kenneth’s memory, besides his wife, are two sons, Kenneth Lacy Moody, Jr., and wife, Annie, of Martinsville, VA, and Jeffrey “Clay” Moody and wife, Penny, of Parsons; two grandchildren, Eric Scott Moody and wife, Kelsey, of Bruceton Mills, WV, and Heather Wade of Martinsville, VA; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Helen Moody Dosier; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Kenneth in death, besides his parents, were a brother, George Estell Moody, Jr.; and a sister, Emily Faye Moody Estep.
Kenneth attended school in Rainelle and served in the U.S. Air Force for four years, during which time he had obtained his GED. He was employed by Georgia Pacific, McClain Printing Company, The Parsons Advocate, and Goodyear Tire as a mechanic, until he became disabled. Kenneth enjoyed his family, camping, Bluegrass music, and traveling. He loved his family and taking care of them.
Visitation will be held at Hostetler Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held from the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 1 p.m. Rev. Sammy Groves will officiate, and interment will follow in Parsons City Cemetery, where members of the US Air Force Honor Guard, Tucker County Veterans Association, HW Daniels Post #29, American Legion, Tygarts Valley Post #3647, and Veterans of Foreign Wars will conduct full military honors.
