LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – Faye Dunford, a Greenbrier County native, grew up baking for family and friends. Despite having a food allergy, like many others, she still embraced the idea of “Live simply and show love for others.”
Faced with her own dietary restrictions, Dunford created recipes for fudge, chocolate turtles, peanut butter cups and glazed and chocolate-covered pecans, all free of dairy.
Her creativity extends beyond taste. Not only are her confections delectable, but they also boast a unique presentation: carefully cut into the shape of West Virginia. When it’s not West Virginia-shaped fudge, customers can choose from chocolate-covered Oreos, chocolate turtles or cashew crunch kisses.
Affectionately known as “Mama Faye” by her grandchildren, she enjoys baking for her family and creating small treat boxes for her clients. Mama Faye participates in numerous farmers markets, festivals and the West Virginia State Fair. Her passion for baking has touched many and is rapidly becoming a West Virginia staple.
You can find Mama Faye’s Confections in various locations throughout West Virginia, including Morgantown, Oak Hill, White Sulphur Springs, Lewisburg, Fayetteville, Beckley, Huntington, Ripley, Summersville and Charleston. Many restaurants and shops also carry her delicious products, such as Amy’s Market, Bella Gourmet in Lewisburg (glazed pecans), Primitive Goods in Ronceverte, Bob’s Country Store and Cafe at Shady Springs and several state parks including Pipestem. She also recently participated in the Women’s Expo in Beckley.
