Nellie Anderson Burns, 90, of Falling Springs, WV, died Tuesday, July 31, 2018.
She was born on May 18, 1928, in Lewisburg, WV, a daughter of Samuel N. Anderson and Marie Cook Anderson. They lived on a farm at Savannah Lane, nine miles north of Lewisburg.
After graduating from Frankford High School, she graduated from Greenbrier College in Lewisburg and Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in New York. She was employed as a secretary at Burlington Mills, White Sulphur Springs, WV, and Westvaco in Covington, VA.
She married Henry L. Burns on October 3, 1953.
She is survived by a sister, Frances A. Hobbs of Millboro Springs, VA; nieces, Donna Towery and husband, Steve, of Phoenix City, AL, Tammy Sharp and husband, Mark, of Newport News, VA; nephews, Eric Hobbs and wife, Caryn, of Newland, NC, John Hobbs of Millboro Springs, Todd Hanger, and Kim White of Alderson, WV. She is also survived by grandnieces and grandnephews, Rebekah Hundley, Sarah Sharp, Taylor Hobbs, Lacey White, Wesley Hobbs, Laban Towery, Adam Towery, Jonathan Towery, Andrew Hobbs, Aaron Hobbs, and Alex Hobbs.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 6, at Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Russell Urban officiating. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Covington.
