Dorothy L. “Dot” Quick, 85, of Lewisburg, WV, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2018, at Greenbrier Health Care Center in Fairlea, WV, after a long illness.
Born March 13, 1933, in Fairlea, she was the daughter of Charles Sidney and Gladys Smith Humphreys.
Dot was a member of the Fairlea Baptist Church, a lifelong resident of Lewisburg, and a graduate of Greenbrier High School in Ronceverte, WV. She retired from C&P Telephone Company in 1982, after 31 years of service, as group chief operator. In retirement, she was a real estate agent. She was a member of the Lewisburg Business and Professional Women’s Club, having served as past president.
She also was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
She enjoyed family, grandchildren, cooking, and sewing. Her cooking and meals were legendary! In her retirement years, she enjoyed travel, especially frequent trips to Tennessee and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul S. Quick; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Farrell Dietz and Margaret Louise Childers; brothers, Charles Hum-phreys and Robert Ray Humphreys; and infant great-grandson, Henry Quick.
Survivors include her son, Paul M. “Mike” Quick and wife, Cindy, of Lewisburg; three grandchildren whom she loved greatly, Heather Lynn Hancock and husband, Rich, of Radford, VA, Christopher Ryan Quick and wife, Julianna, of Lewisburg, and Kevin Alan Quick, of Lewisburg; one great-granddaughter, Nora Patricia Quick of Lewisburg; three brothers, Ralph Humphreys of Fairlea, Jimmy Humphreys of Shreveport, LA, and Jack Humphreys of Hinton, WV; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Seasons Place in Lewisburg, Greenbrier Health Care Center in Fairlea, and Dr. Connie Anderson.
Special thanks to caregivers Phyllis Johnson and the late Carol Wine-brimmer.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at the Rosewood Cemetery in Lewisburg with Pastor Ron Miller officiating.
