Barbara Jean Navarra Kleman, 83, died peacefully Sunday, May 6, 2018, at her daughter’s home in Duluth, GA.
Born September 21, 1934, in Marshalltown, IA, she was the daughter of the late Edward V. Navarra and Athelene Wiggs Navarra.
Barbara was a former 37-year resident of Lewisburg, WV. Barbara was a veteran of the United States Navy based in Seattle, WA, where she met her husband Paul Kleman, a U.S. Marine. They married in 1955, and she began her travels with her husband in his profession as an osteopathic physician. She lived in Ohio and Arizona, and eventually settled down in Lewisburg.
Barbara was very active as a volunteer in the Auxiliary of West Virginia Society of Osteopathic Medicine, where she served as treasurer for many years. Barbara was also active in her late husband’s scholarship fund, given annually to students with a desire to practice family medicine in West Virginia.
Barbara is survived by her two sons, Tom Kleman of Tucson, AZ, and Dr. Tim Kleman of Oracle, AZ; her daughter, Paula Williams of Duluth; her son-in-law, Phillip Williams of Duluth; and her only grandson, Matt Williams of Alpharetta, GA. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews in Arizona and California.
A graveside service will be held at Rosewood Cemetery in Lewisburg, at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 11, 2018.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dr. Paul G. Kleman Family Practice Student Award Fund, WVSOM Foundation, 400 N. Lee Street, Lewisburg, WV 24901.
Bill Head Funeral Homes and Crematory, Duluth Chapel, in Duluth, GA, is in charge of arrangements.
