Another holiday splendor, is Maple Bacon Crack. Along the lines of crack candies laced with powdered sugar and given in small bags, bacon crack is a slam dunk of umami (earthy, salty flavors) and sweet in one bite. You will be the hit of the party when showing up with a dish of this salty, sugary, delicious, concoction. Simple to make and can be doubled or tripled.
Ingredients:
1 lb sliced bacon
1 package (8 oz) crescent roll dough
1/2 cup maple syrup
3/4 cup brown sugar
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
Lay out crescent roll dough on the baking sheet, pinching seams to form a single sheet.
Cook bacon until partially cooked but still flexible. Drain and chop into pieces.
Spread maple syrup over the dough. Sprinkle with half of the brown sugar.
Lay the bacon pieces on top of the dough.
Sprinkle the remaining brown sugar over the bacon.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and the bacon is crispy.
Let cool for a few minutes, then cut into pieces and serve.
