John “Johnny” R. McCoy, 89, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at Peyton Hospice House, after a short illness.
John was born July 8, 1928, to Lawrence and Maude Spinks McCoy.
He worked at The Greenbrier as night auditor and in the purchasing department. John enjoyed playing cards and pool with his friends. He loved sitting on a bench downtown, where he never met a stranger.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Helen.
Survivors include his daughter, Debra, and son-in-law, Todd; granddaughters, Kristin Hume (Justin) of Rogers, AR, Marissa Harrison (Jacob) of Buford, GA, and Taylor Seldomridge (Drew) of Dacula, GA; and one great-granddaughter, Kaylee Rae.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Lewisburg United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Rick Brown officiating. John donated his body to WVSOM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lewisburg United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
McCraw Funeral Home in Lewisburg is in charge of arrangements.
