Nancy Joan Smith, 89, of White Sulphur Springs, WV, went to be with the Lord on March 28, 2018, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Nancy was born in Mullins, WV, on March 22, 1929.
Nancy was an accomplished pianist and her most prized possession was the piano her parents gave her when she was a child.
Nancy studied business at Concord College and Columbia University. She was a teacher at Herndon High School and worked many years as the food service director for Wyoming County Schools. She was a member of the Mullins Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as their pianist. She retired in 1981. She moved to White Sulphur Springs to be near her family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence E. Smith and her mother, Della Scott Smith; one brother, Clarence E. Smith Jr.; and a beloved grandmother, Alice B. Smith.
She is survived by many cousins and special friends.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 2, 2018, at the Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg, with Pastor Gordon Ross officiating. Interment will follow at the Sinks Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Order of the Eastern Star services will be held at 1:30 p.m. with Lewisburg Chapter 108 of the Order of the Eastern Star.
