BECKLEY, WV- Greenbrier East participated in the Beckley Husqvarna Duals over the weekend and finished second overall out of seven teams.
The Spartans beat Fishburn Military Academy 56-24, Liberty-Raleigh 60-24, Clay County 48-33, Chapmanville 66-18, and the All-Star JV Team 60-24. East lost to Woodrow Wilson 34-48. Aiden Fleshman, Carter Hamiliton, Keshawn Bland, Carlos Rodrigo, and Calvin Roberts all went undefeated for the tournament.
The Spartans are looking to travel to Hurricane High School Dec. 8-9 for the Mike Ellis Duals.
“The team wrestled really well today,” coach Davis Solak said.
“We have an experienced group of promising upperclassmen and some promising freshmen. Fleshman and Bland really stood out today and came up with huge wins all day long. Returning state finalist Calvin Roberts maintained his dominance from last year and picked up some easy wins. Parker Hale got five wins and Austin Roberts wrestled well and picked up four wins during the day. We are looking forward to getting everyone healthy and in our lineup soon. However, we are looking solid for the time being and I expect us to continue to be solid for the whole year,” Solak concluded.
