A new parking lot near the old True Value spot and the Seneca Mental Health Building was discussed. Twenty-nine new parking spots would be gained from the project and only 13 current spots would be lost, with an additional two more parking spots on the street lost as well. A net gain of 14 total parking spots, that would be open for general parking and not just reserved, made the members request it be approved. So far, adjacent businesses to where the construction would be done have made no complaints about the pending project.
Mayor Beverly White discussed Family Court Awareness Month and those who go the extra mile for their organizations.
“The Family Court Awareness Committee is to increase awareness of the importance of a Family Court system that prioritizes child safety and acts in the best interest of children and whereas the commission of the FCAMC is fueled by the desire to create awareness and change in the Family Court system that conservatively estimated that 58,000 children a year are ordered into unsupervised contacts,” White read.
The selection of the audit committee was next. Current audits are required to receive grant funding according to the council.
Water Plant information- Yates storage tank scaffolding is out and down. Completion of the tank is expected in January. They still must tie all the lines, but that is the date of completion expected. The tank itself for the exterior will be finished on Dec. 14. The new plant to fill that size of tank would have taken four days. With the existing plant, it would have taken over 20 days. It is possible a deadline extension will be needed due to older equipment that cannot meet those needs.
