A few weeks ago, Greenbrier East boys’ soccer coach Lucas Lemine received word that he had been named the WVSSAC NFHS State Boys’ Soccer Coach of the Year for the 2022 season.
On Saturday, at halftime of the AAA boys’ state championship game, Lemine received his award in person from WVSSAC executive director Dan Comer.
Lemine is a humble coach that makes everything more about his players than himself, and that was no different this time even with winning one of the more prestigious awards a coach can get.
“It’s certainly about a whole lot more than me, but I appreciate it,” Lemine said a couple weeks ago when asked about it.
“I know I’ve given every ounce of myself to this program and pushed for success on and off the field,” the coach said.
