Identity of pedestrian hit and killed in Fairlea released

FAIRLEA W.Va. (WVDN) – Earlier today, (Nov. 6) a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Fairlea. The victim has been identified as Matthew Ray Falls, 47, of Fort Springs. Sadly, Falls did not survive the incident. Greenbrier County Sheriff Bruce Sloan released the following statement on the accident.

“On Monday, Nov. 06, 2023, at approximately 4:40 a.m., members of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a traffic accident in Fairlea. Responding officers would determine that a pedestrian was pushing a bicycle along US Route 219 North in Fairlea when they were stuck by a northbound vehicle. The pedestrian, identified as Matthew Ray Falls, age 47 of the Fort Spring area, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

“Members of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene/Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the accident, which remains under investigation.

“Corporal M. T. Doss, of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department, is the investigating officer.”
