Charles Marion Burr
Charles Marion Burr, 90, went to his heavenly home, surrounded by his family, on October 26, 2023.
Charles was born in White Sulphur Springs on May 15, 1933, to James Carl Burr, Sr. and Ruth Thompson Burr.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister; beloved brother, James Carl Burr, Jr; sister-in-law, Anita “Kitten” Burr; his nephew, James Carl Burr, III and wife, Cathy; his first wife, Pearl Murphy Burr; stepchildren, Danny Ross Honaker and Donna Honaker Mark.
Charles was a faithful lifelong member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, serving in many capacities, with his favorite being Methodist Men and heading up pancake suppers and picnics. Charles was so very knowledgeable and giving, many, many times behind the scenes. He will be greatly missed by his family and community. He set the bar high. The Lord met him with “well done my good and faithful servant”.
Charles was a 1949 graduate of White Sulphur Springs High School and a 1953 graduate of WVU. He was a proud Korean War veteran, serving in The US Army. He was a farmer and owned Duntrukn Dairy and Beef Farm. Charles was a past board director of The Bank of White Sulphur Springs, member of WSS city council, and was a Jaycee. He also was a 65 year member of The White Sulphur Springs Rotary Club. His pet projects were Old Timers Day and Penny Pitch.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shelva Honaker Burr; stepchildren, Ricky Honaker (Joanna), Mike Honaker (Lisa), Cynthia Honaker Wu, Belinda Honaker Jameson (Paul), Shane Honaker (Kristi), Gary Murphy (Judy), Donna Carillo (Chico), Sharon Grapka (Michael); nieces, Ruth Miller (RJ) and Anita Butts (Donald); great-nephews, Robert, Charlie and Joseph Miller, James C. Burr, IV; great-nieces, Maggie and Allison Butts; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
