Wanda Mae Hinkley, 93, of Alderson, WV, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.
Born May 23, 1924, at Blaker Mills, WV, she was the daughter of Clarence Mason Keeney and Maude Beard Feamster Keeney.
Mrs. Hinkley was retired from the Federal Prison System following 26 years of service. She was a member and Elder of Alderson Presbyterian Church and Presbyterian Women’s Circle, a member of Alderson Women’s Club, Senior Friends at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Alderson Quilters, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), and a former 4-H Leader.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hinkley was preceded in death by son-in-law, Fred Shields; grandson, William Joseph Hinkley; granddaughters, Christy Hinkley and Lisa Nicole Hinkley; sister, Virginia Caroline Henderson; and brother, George Edgar “Toby” Keeney.
Surviving are her daughter, Pam Shields of Alderson; sons, Bobby Mason Hinkley (Diana) of Ronceverte, WV, David S. Hinkley of Lewisburg, WV, and William Gary Hinkley of Lewisburg; grandchildren, Kevin B. Shields, Carrie Hinkley, Daniel Hinkley, Sabrina Hash (Jamie), Ashley Shields, Matthew Hinkley (Meleena), David A. Hinkley (Azjah), Kayla Stewart (Mitchell), and Payton Hinkley (Stephanie); 16 great-grandchildren; and her beloved cat, Kiddo.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hinkley will be Sunday, January 28, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Alderson Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Lanny Howe officiating. Interment will follow at the Blaker Mills Cemetery near Alderson.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, January 27, 2018, from 6-8 p.m. at Alderson Presbyterian Church.
