Greenbrier West Cavalier senior volleyball standout Kadie O’Dell has enjoyed a successful career in Charmco. Including this season, she is a 4-year starter and last season was named second team all-state. O’Dell is one of the leaders of her squad and thrives on forming relationships with everyone.
What coach Robertson said:
“Kadie is a senior 4-year starter at outside hitter for us. She was second team all-state last year. She plays all the way around, is a big part of our offense when she’s on the net, and a big part of our defense when she’s on the back row.”
WVDN: What position do you play?
O’Dell: Outside hitter /all-around player
WVDN: Do you play any other sports?
O’Dell: No, I only play volleyball
WVDN: Do you have a pregame ritual?
O’Dell: My pre-game ritual is probably listening to music and before I warm up my parents kiss my forehead and wish good luck
WVDN: Favorite food?
O’Dell: Oh my, probably deep-fried pickles
WVDN: Favorite actor/actress?
O’Dell: I can’t say I have a favorite
WVDN: Favorite band/singer?
O’Dell: My favorite singer is most definitely Cody Johnson
WVDN: Favorite song?
O’Dell: I like so many songs I don’t think I can pick a favorite
WVDN: Your best volleyball memory?
O’Dell: Honestly probably, goofing off with my friends and having the support from our student sections
WVDN: Favorite memory so far at West? (Student-wise)
O’Dell: Making all kinds of friends no matter what grade they are in
WVDN: Once the season is over, what will you miss the most?
O’Dell: I will miss the friendships and bonds this sport creates, and of course I’ll miss playing volleyball
WVDN: What have you learned from being in sports at West?
O’Dell: That you have to learn to get along with everyone
WVDN: What’s one thing you would say to an underclassman for advice?
O’Dell: Don’t be hard on yourself. Just have fun and make friends
WVDN: Favorite class?
O’Dell: My favorite classes are FFA and Engineering by far!
WVDN: How does it feel to be a senior?
O’Dell: Weird because I have to figure out what I want to do with my life, and it feels like I was just going to high school
WVDN: Any siblings or pets?
O’Dell: Yes, I have 4 siblings, twin brothers and 2 sisters. I also have 5 dogs and 2 cats that I love very much

O’Dell: Matt and Megan O’Dell
WVDN: What has coach Robertson taught you not just about volleyball, but life as well?
O’Dell: Try your hardest to get what you want
WVDN: How important is your family in all your academic and sport decisions?
O’Dell: My family is very important in everything I do. It’s like I have 6 built in best friends!

O’Dell: Undecided
