Gary Lee Carter, 68, of Ronceverte, WV, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg, WV.
Gary was born January 3, 1950, in Summers County, and was the son of Harold B. and Norma Jean Wenger Carter.
Gary was a former deputy director and dispatcher for the 911 Center in Greenbrier County. He was a life member of the Ronceverte Volunteer Fire Department, with over 35 years of service, having served in the various positions within the department. Gary had served as a former police officer with the Ronceverte Police Department.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Candy Carter.
Surviving are his loving wife, Norma Christian Carter; daughters, Tina Guthrie and her husband, David, of Ronceverte and Cindy Heaster and her husband, Chad, of Clintonville, WV; grandchildren, Eric Guthrie (Amber), Ryan Guthrie, Lauren Heaster and Haylee Heaster; great-grandchildren, Chase Guthrie and Braxton Doss; brothers, Jerry Wayne Carter and wife, Joyce, of Fort Spring, WV, Eddie Carter of Fort Spring, Dennis Carter and wife, Martha, of Hematite, VA and Joe Carter of Pickaway, WV.
Funeral services for Gary will be Sunday January 21, 2018, at 3 p.m. at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg, WV, with Pastor Stewart Farley and Pastor Ray Propps officiating, with interment to follow at Rosewood Cemetery, Lewisburg.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 21, from 1 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
