BECKLEY W.Va. (WVDN) – Active Southern West Virginia is pleased to announce the availability of the 2023-24 Workplace Wellness capacity building grant funding, inviting prospective applicants to apply. In this funding cycle, Active SWV is set to award 20 capacity building grants, each valued at $1,500.
To be eligible for this opportunity, workplaces are required to have a minimum of 20 employees and at least one staff member who holds a certification in Work@Health. Alternatively, smaller organizations have the option to form partnerships to collectively fulfill these prerequisites. Applicants can also apply without a certified Work@Health employee, provided that the organization certifies at least one employee in Work@Health during the grant year.
The granted funding is intended to facilitate enduring changes in policies, systems, and environments within workplaces, with the primary goal of promoting physical activity, enhancing nutrition resources, offering breastfeeding support, and bolstering mental health resources, regardless of the nature of the business. Past recipients of this grant have utilized the funding to establish onsite physical activity facilities, improve equipment availability within these spaces, offer nutritious snacks and beverages during meetings and within the workplace, engage fitness instructors, deliver educational materials, and implement various other beneficial initiatives.
